When I was thinking of what to get Lynn for her birthday I was indecisive. I knew that she didn’t want anything unnecessary. She was at a point where chocolates and fancy dinners couldn’t offer much anymore. Jewelry was too cliche and not something she particularly wanted. So I decided to go for a practical gift. I went to ikea while she was at work and picked up this drink cart for only $29.99. The design is very modern and simplistic which is exactly Lynn’s style. However, there is one fatal flaw with this design, the colors. Lynn’s decor revolves around one color. Gold. All day, everyday. Everywhere, on everything. I knew what she would want. Materials:

When she wasn’t paying attention one day, I slipped her favorite spray paint out of the supply closet and into my bag. I went home, assembled the entire cart but took off the shelves and painted the silver frame a solid gold. Now here is where things got tricky. After letting the frame dry for a few hours, I took it apart and re-assembled it with the shelves this time. If you are not careful, the shelves will slip and scratch the paint. This happened more times than I would like to admit. After re-assembling (and repainting) the cart was complete! We used the cart as a coffee cart but really it can be used for anything! Mini bar, kitchen island for a toaster oven, appliance stand, get creative! This is a very simple, low cost DIY project but it looks great! Hope you enjoyed this post and until next time happy crafting! Comments are closed.
