Consume, Concoct, & Curate:DIY CHALKBOARD CLIPBOARDS

One problem we have always had is forgetting what food we need to eat, cook, and buy. Food will go rotten, or leftovers will have to thrown away, and we will sadly regret not eating it earlier. Or that feeling in the pit of your stomach when you get home from buying groceries and realize you forgot something. Our solution to this problem was to create a set of 3 chalkboards to keep track of our food. Hence the three:

• CONSUME: meals already prepared
  
• CONCOCT: meals ready to be made
  
• CURATE: ingredients needed for future meals

Materials:

• Burlap canvas pad (Michaels, ours was a smaller size though)
• Clips (Michaels)
• Chalkboard (Michaels)
• Chalkboard pen (Bistro Chalk Marker for $4)
• Glue gun (to cover pointy end of screw)
• Drill
• Screws
• Hand saw ($1.50 from Daiso)

Instructions:

1. Start by creating the clipboards. Using the drill, attach the clips onto the canvas by putting screws in. You may need help holding the clip up while the other person drills in order to make sure the screw goes all the way in. If the screw sticks out like ours did, cover it with hot glue gun or other material.
2. Measure out the size of the chalkboard that you would like. If you need to visualize it, cut out a blank piece of paper to that size and place it on your clipboard. If it is the size you like, then trace that size onto the chalkboard.
3. Saw your chalkboard into that size. Clip it onto the board. Now use your chalk marker to make lists, organizers, or calendars!
