Bluffs Trail, Montana De Oro State Park, Los Osos, CA Friday rolls around, and we have yet to have a plan for the weekend. As a firm believer in not wasting precious weekends, I spontaneously suggested going to SLO. I had never been there, and knew there were quite a few photography spots, so off we left at 4 AM in the morning on Saturday to catch the sunrise! Since it was such a last minute trip, we had to backtrack a few times and changed our plans here and there (including driving around to 3 different campgrounds!) We eventually found last minute camping sites at El Chorro Regional Park, which luckily was also only $25. No great views, but convenient last minute place to just sleep for the night. After a long morning, we were very excited to grab breakfast and coffee in SLO. We had to of course try the hipster coffee shop Scout Coffee - he got a pourover and I got a California cold brew - both very good! Though a bit expensive, so we opted for two cold brews the next day which were just as refreshing and caffeinated. Splash Cafe, a local favorite, quickly became our go-to restaurant for this trip - we had their breakfast burritos (with tater tots, eggs, onions, and bacon), and their clam chowder in a bread bowl for lunch (and breakfast the next day). The clam chowder topped with seafood was definitely a hit, with toasted bread pieces that were oh so delicious. When noon rolled around, it was definitely in the 90s and we couldn't bear to go hiking. So we headed out the Pismo Beach, and luckily the cool ocean breeze combined with shade from the pier gave us a relaxing place to just lounge and binge watch our newest Netflix obsession. Because we were rushed to find a campground, we didn't have time to truly explore Los Osos so we drove back up to see some of the beautiful trees! Beautiful oak trees and Spanish moss make this reserve one of fairytales. Before heading out, we wanted to get a few more shots so we headed out to the Bluff's Trail. With only a 2 mile hike (though we only did half of it), it had beautiful views with the ocean crashing against rock formations. Definitely a fantastic view to end our weekend adventure!
