Shark Fin Cove, Davenport, CA
We saw these beautiful Milky Way photos of Davenport and were amazed that you could see the stars so well not too far from San Jose, so had to make a trip out there! So we drove down through the Santa Cruz mountains, wandered around downtown, and then staked out our spot until the sun set. You really can see the stars out there!

Trying something a bit different this time! A few weeks ago, Keith and I started checking out farmer's markets in the South Bay, and I knew we had to go to the Mountain View one as it was the largest in the area. As we walked into the market, one of the first vendors that caught our eye was a ginger beer shop. With its awesome branding and fond memories' of the famous Rachel's Ginger Beer in Seattle, we were excited to try out local brand Ginger Lab. We ended up bringing a growler of guava ginger beer home, and of course had to photograph it.
And with a photo posted on Instagram, that's how our partnership with Ginger Lab began! The owner of the start-up contacted us, and we became quick friends bonding over our love of local San Jose artist Le Petit Elephant. So we decided to partner with her and started photographing for social media! Keith also excitedly started finding more avenues of growth for the company - such as Whole Foods and other local maker's markets. Who knows where this could go - we certainly believe it has potential! If you're ever at the Los Altos or Mountain View farmer's market, check them out! You can also find them (and us!) on Instagram @drink_gingerlab. The View from Our Airbnb in Cortez Hill
This Labor Day weekend, we decided to road trip with our friends to spend a weekend in San Diego! I had not been in the city since I was little, and Keith had never been at all. So we packed our bags and headed down I-5 at 4 AM in the morning. Day 1: San Jose to San Diego
Panoramic Point, King's Canyon National Park
What would you get up at 4am for? The latest camping trip that Lynn and I took (the first of our married lives!) was to Sequoia and King's Canyon National Park. So why 4am? Well, we have realized there is about a three hour window of great lighting in both the pre-sun hours and right before it sets. Once the harsh sunlight hits the canyon walls, (good) photography is impossible. Saturday and Sunday saw us waking up long before our normal alarms so we could wake up and start chasing the sun. House on the Road to Mount Tamalpais
As many of you Bay Area natives may already know, San Francisco's classic fog is well known as Karl the Fog - he's even got his own Instagram handle. We had wanted to adventure up past SF to Marin County for a while, since we still haven't completely explored that area yet. So after a (somewhat) quick breakfast (with Acme bread and coffee with a delicious raspberry chocolate tint) at the farmer's market back home, we headed up north to track down Karl. The house above was one of our favorite treasures as we drove up the windy roads to the mountain. We saw it on the way up as Lynn admired all the beautiful houses, each built to complement the majestic trees and moody weather. We actually caught this photo on the drive down (after making a U-turn and missing it the second time) because we just couldn't resist capturing the juxtaposition of trees. Skydeck, Chicago, Illinois
As one of my first moment's of adulting, I got the opportunity to have my first work trip sponsored by San Jose State to attend the National Career Development Association Conference! Of course, I had to take advantage of such a great opportunity to travel, so off to Chicago we went! As cliche and touristy as it sounds, we wanted to hit up the SkyDeck because I found an awesome photo of it on Instagram. So we took the elevator up 103 floors and watched the city fall beneath us as we gazed out the windows. What a view. Downside of visiting tourist stops - it took us quite a few tries (and a lot of patience) to wait out the crowds until we could get one of the windows to take our shot. And it was worth it! *Our top recommendations Mossbrae Falls, Dunsmuir, CA Portland put the waterfall photography bug in us, so we couldn't resist finding some amazing waterfalls that Keith's cousin photographed up in (true) northern California. And impressive they were - especially the mysterious, elusive Mossbrae Falls.
